Myanmar (Burma) PHOTO TOUR


Itinerary of Myanmar Photo Tour

Day (1)  Yangon-Arrival 

Welcome by Win and transfer to the Hotel. Orientation by Win about the trip .About cultural and customs and go out for lunch at Padonamar Myanmar Traditional food. Visit Chaukhtetgyi reclining Buddha the biggest one of Yangon. We’ll also photograph the monasteries around Chaukhtetgyi and do photo shoot with monks. Proceed to Shwedagon Pagoda : 2500 years old great Shwedagon Pagoda with over 90 tons of gold. We’ll can photograph people praying, offering water to Buddha’s, offering candles and inscene and Sunset at Shwedagon Pagoda . Dinner at local restaurant.  Back to the hotel and Overnight at Hotel. ( L,D )

Day (2)  Yangon– Bagan ( By Flight) 

Early morning ,check out and drive to the airport for the flight to Bagan. If time permits, we’ll have a chance to visit fish market to do photography there. Arrive Bagan . Lunch atest Bagan restaurant. Check in Hotel . Afternoon Bagan Photography :  We’ll have candles to light up and photograph the Buddha with praying girls, Shwezigon pagoda with monks walking with umbrellas. Praying monks in the temple with rays coming in,  Lunch somewhere in between  at best Bagan restaurant . Sulamani temple with the best murals from 12 -13 century. Drive to around Pyathetgyi Temple to photograph the goats and cows going home with dust by sunset. Dinner at restaurant. Back to the hotel .( B, L,D )

Day(3)   Bagan -Photography  

Early morning 05:00 am , drive to Shwesandaw Pagoda  for sunrise. Back to the Hotel for breakfast. Follow the monks to the village and photograph them collecting rice from the villagers. This is really amazing to watch and photograph. Visit to Ananda temple with the most beautiful standing Buddha images from 11 century, beautiful indoor light. We’ll also visit the lacquerware making village and photograph them working. Lunch at restaurant. Evening Visit to Okkyaung Gyi temple for sunset and photograph the group of temples from the ground by sunset. Dinner at restaurant.  Back to the hotel and over night at Hotel. ( B, L,D )

Day(4)  Bagan -Mandalay ( By Flight )

Early morning flight to Mandalay. If time permits , we’ll have a chance to photograph the sunrise from Myaukguni temple. On the road to Mandalay, we’ll stop at Palaik with over 800 temples, weaving village, local school and photograph the village life.  We’ll set up some monks and kids studying by the monastery there. Proceed to Mandalay. Lunch at Ko’s kitchen , Thai restaurant,  check in Hotel. We’ll also visit Sandamuni pagoda and set up photo shoot with little monks with umbrella by the hundreds of white pagodas. Afternoon special visit to Amaparura to photograph the Taungthaman lake , villagers with Thanaka on their faces , photograph the fishermen around the lake and sunset over U Bein Wooden Bridge by sunset. Dinner at restaurant.  Back to the hotel . ( B, L,D )

Day(5)  Mandalay -Mingun- Amarapura

Breakfast :04:30am , leave Early morning 05:00 am boat ride to Mingun. Photograph the Sin Phyu Me pagoda with nuns and monks with umbrellas, praying villagers at the top of the pagoda, proceed to Unfinished  Pagoda Pathidawgyi with the big crack on the wall, photograph the village life, back to the Mandalay. Lunch at Myanmar traditional restaurant. Visit puppet factory and traditional art making families and workshop, photograph the Buddha making family , carving, painting . Proceed to the Ayeyarwaddy river front to photograph the life by river, people weaving bamboo, bamboo traders and photograph the fishermen throwing the net by sunset. Dinner at restaurant. Back to the Hotel . Over night at Hotel. ( B, L,D )

Day(6)  Mandalay –Heho- Inle ( By Flight)

Early morning breakfast and transfer to the airport for the flight to Heho. Arrive Heho . If time permits , we’ll go up to Mandalay Hill for the great sunrise photo shoot  . We’ll stop at traditional Shan Umbrella making and paper making. Proceed to NyaungShwe  Proceed to Inle lake. We’ll have lunch at Nyaungshwe. Drive to Jetty and transfer into long tail boat. All the transportation in Inle lake by boat. Check in Hotel . We’ll go out to photograph the villages on the water , local monastery around the lake to photograph the monks studying. Nile leg rowers and Inle lake  fishermen with conical  nets  by sunset. Dinner at restaurant.  Back to the hotel. ( B, L,D )

Day(7) Inle –Indein Photography 

Early morning sunrise photo shoot by fishermen fishing. We’ll photograph the fishermen with conical nets , stick nets fishing by sunrise. Back to the hotel for breakfast . After breakfast , we’ll take a boat ride to a local market. Then , proceed to a special archeological site , Inndein. We’ll photograph the 1000 ruins over Inndein. Lunch at local restaurant. We’ll also visit Phaungdaw Oo pagoda from 11 th century. We’ll also photograph the floating gardens, floating villages, Long neck family ( Padaung family) and their weaving house. Back to Inle lake. Sunset on the way to the Hotel. Back to the hotel. Dinner at Hotel.( B, L,D )

Day(8)  Heho –Yangon ( By Flight)

Early morning sunrise photo shoot and sunrise by a village and back to the hotel for  breakfast, Early morning boat ride to Nyaungshwe. Drive to Heho for the flight back to Yangon. Arrive Yangon. We might have a chance to stop at local souvenir shop. Check in Hotel. Lunch at Green Elephant Myanmar restaurant. Afternoon  Old Rangoon , old buildings, street photography .Proceed to Sin Oo Dan Jetty to photograph the small boats leaving Yangon by sunset from the jetty with seagulls and boats by Yangon River. Dinner at restaurant .Over night at Hotel. ( B, L,D )

Day(9) Yangon –Departure 

After breakfast, prepare for the departure flight. Transfer to the Yangon International Airport. Say goodbye to the Win Kyaw Zan and Myanmar. ( B )

Tim Vollmer

Tim has devoted his life to photography, which has been his long held hobby and great passion. Tim has always felt himself drawn to the power and beauty he finds in nature. Tim has been leading photo tours and workshops in Iceland and in many different countries over the years. He has had the world as his workplace. Photographing everything from the dramatic landscape in Iceland, to the native people in the remote corners of the world and the culture that are unique to each country. His journeys have taken him around the world in pursuit of memorable travel experiences and the creation of compelling images. His work has been featured in international publications. His images and stories are shared on various internet outlets. As a driven artist, professional, entrepreneur and an adventurer, Tim is eager to share his passion, knowledge in photography and travel through the tours he designed on his own, or through his partnership with professional photographers from around the globe. Tim and his family currently lived 11 years in Iceland. Now they are based in Czech Republic.

Dean J. Tatooles

Chicago-based photographer, Dean J. Tatooles, is the owner and operator of Southern Cross Galleries Photo Safaris. In his professional career, Dean has specialized in landscape and wildlife photography and indigenous portraiture. His travels have taken him across all seven continents multiple times.

Dean works primarily with Nikon digital SLR equipment to capture his wildlife images and indigenous portraits and a Linhof 617 S III Technorama medium format panoramic camera to produce his majestic landscapes. At a young age, Dean became fascinated with the topography, culture and wildlife of certain locations in the Southern Hemisphere. In that spirit, he created Southern Cross Galleries after the constellation that bears its name and is only visible from below the Equator. His hope is that his work touches that sense of adventure in everyone and that viewers of his photographs will be transported to another time and place, even if it’s for just a moment.

As owner and operator of Southern Cross Galleries Photo Safaris, Dean in conjunction with his global partners, has lead photo tours all across the globe. The world is his workplace and Dean is eager to share his passion for photography with others whenever he can. Southern Cross Galleries Photo Safaris’ photo tours are always small and intimate –with rarely more than six to eight guests on a given trip. Wherever possible, mass tourism and the norm are avoided, opting for the more “off the beaten path” locations. Dean understands that light and timing are everything in creating that perfect photo and makes sure to have his guests in the right place at the right time to maximize opportunities. Accordingly, scheduling is flexible and his tours adapt constantly to conditions on the ground.
